Privacy Policy

Nota Scriptura ("the app") is a sermon and Bible-study notes app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, developed by 2DC (Robert Murdock). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it.

Short version

Nota Scriptura collects no personal data and does not track you. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. Your notes are stored on your own device and in your own private iCloud account — the developer never has access.

What the app stores

The app stores the notes you write — text, formatting, and associated Bible references — so it can display them and keep them organized. This data is stored:

• Locally on your device, always.
• In your personal iCloud account, synced automatically through Apple's CloudKit private database. This database is tied to your Apple ID, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and accessible only to you. We — the developer — cannot see, access, or receive any of this data. It never passes through a server we operate, because we don't operate one.

What the app does not do

• No account creation, sign-in, or collection of personal identifiers.
• No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking of any kind.
• No advertising or ad tracking.
• No third-party SDKs or frameworks that collect data.
• No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to us or to any third party.

System API usage

Nota Scriptura uses two iOS/macOS system APIs that Apple requires apps to declare:

• UserDefaults — used to store your in-app settings (such as display preferences). All settings are stored in the app's own private container on your device. No personal information is involved.
• File timestamps — used to determine which copy of a note is newest when resolving sync conflicts (last-write-wins). Timestamps are read within the app's own iCloud container only; no timestamp data is transmitted anywhere.

Both uses are solely within the app's own private container. Neither API is used to track you or collect information about you.

Children's privacy

Nota Scriptura does not collect personal information from anyone, including children, so there is nothing to disclose or protect under children's privacy regulations.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective date" above will be updated accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
